Opinion & Analysis
Bitcoin Policy UK (British Bitcoin advocacy group) released a podcast on the banking barriers Bitcoin users and businesses face in Britain, drawing on the evidence it submitted to a cross-party parliamentary inquiry.
Patrick Witt (Executive Director, President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, White House) said community banks were not shut out of the stablecoin rewards talks: their associations attended every White House meeting, and an open invitation for individual community banks to join directly drew no response.
Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) said Democrats will own the fallout if the CLARITY Act, the Senate’s pending market-structure bill, fails, since they wrote over 100 of its changes.
Cody Carbone (CEO, The Digital Chamber) said the CLARITY Act draft reflects years of bipartisan negotiation, and warned the Senate must act now or cede US leadership to other countries.
Ji Hun Kim (CEO, Crypto Council for Innovation) told an Illinois court that the state’s 0.2% tax on digital asset transactions causes irreparable harm, damage no later ruling can undo.
Sam Bankman-Fried (imprisoned FTX co-founder) asked the Supreme Court for a new trial, arguing the judge let prosecutors show customer losses while blocking his evidence that the assets existed to repay them.
Ben Delo (BitMEX co-founder) said his £36 million donation to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK creates a level playing field, and he paid it upfront anticipating a government cap on donations.
Baroness Neville-Rolfe (Conservative peer, UK Parliament) advanced an amendment, passed 194 to 138, requiring the Treasury to publish a digital asset strategy within twelve months of the bill becoming law.
Bitcoin News (Bitcoin news outlet) explained Kalshi’s Bitcoin perpetual, approved as a futures product, leaves traders unsure how to report gains, because the IRS is not bound by that label.
Simply Bitcoin (Bitcoin media platform) said Bitcoin does not care about your political party, a post published as US lawmakers fought over market-structure legislation this week.
